Bahia state is home to diverse little slices of paradise, one being the picturesque city of Itacaré, until not so long ago a quiet fishing village. Aside from more than 20 beaches, Itacaré also boasts tranquil rivers, waterfalls and a huge Atlantic Rainforest reserve. Considered one of the richest combined ecosystems, it was elevated to the category of Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and today is one of the three major conservation priorities in the world.
